PGIMF Transitions

This Page contains the latest information for PGIMF in its move to a new home.

At the Congregational Meeting of October 27, 2019, PGIMF voted to move to St. James Community Square at 3214 W. 10th Ave., in Kitsilano. Stay tuned for further details.

Please visit this page to stay informed about the search for a new home for PGIMF.  The transition committee struck in 2015 to help in the search for a new home is composed of Henry Neufeld, Janice Kreider (replaces Catherine Cooper), Travis Martin, Rosie Perera and Veronica Dyck,

With the sale of the Menno Simons Centre in July 2019, and a lease-back arrangement valid until May 2020, PGIMF received a firm date by which the congregation must move. More than a dozen likely sites were visited and researched to ensure they had space for a fellowship on a Sunday, were willing to share the space with us, gauge basic costs, and determine what compromises would be likely should the congregation move there.  A number of reports have been received over the years and can be found below.

As of September 15, 2019, attention is currently focused on two sites – the Chapel in Menno Court (1750 E. 41st Ave., in Vancouver) and the basement assembly space in St. James Community Square (3214 W 10th Ave, Vancouver).  A third site – Kitsilano Neighbourhood House – was determined not to meet the needs of the congregation earlier.  A service to test the worship space at Menno Court was held on September 29th and a second to test the worship space at St. James Square will be held October 20th.   A survey will be distributed after October 20th to evaluate the opinions of attenders to both services.

On May 30, 2018, the PCDA completed the purchase a new property in the University Endowment Lands (UEL) to eventually build a new student residence on the UBC campus.
